NEST | You, Me, Us | Draíocht

By Liadh Connolly and 153 Dublin 15 students.

A photographic and collage installation of portraiture, drawings and words made by young people from Dublin 15 schools participating in a wider project entitled NEST (directed by Veronica Coburn) investigating identity and self-representation. I was so lucky to be involved in leading the photographic element of NEST with students aged 7-17 years.

With my guidance, the coloured photographs featured in the exhibition were directed and captured both by the students themselves and their classmates.

It has been such a joy to work on the NEST project with Draiocht, I really enjoyed collaborating with the beautiful individuals of Dublin 15, working together to create a visual representation of young people in this area through portraiture. Being a part of this project over the last couple of months has reminded me of some of the most important things in life - happiness, security, self-expression and to have fun. Not all young people get to experience these feelings every day, so bringing some light to their schools and creating a fun, self-explorative safe space for the students has been a highlight for me.
